Dubai to South Africa for ‘The Golfer’s Bucket List’ featuring:

South Africa’s Top Golf Courses plus the Big 5 and Cape Town

Day 1 Arrive Cape Town Le Quartier Francais http://www.lqf.co.za/

On arrival at Cape Town International Airport, you will be transferred to the beautiful Winelands of Franschhoek for check-in at Le Quartier Francais.

Located in the heart of Franschhoek Village, just 45 minutes out of Cape Town, Le Quartier Francais is an ideal base from which to explore the many wonders of the Winelands http://www.winelands.co.za/ . A little French, a little foreign, it offers a warm ambiance and generous country hospitality where old world meets new in a marriage of sophistication and comfort. Its spacious suites are stylishly furnished with modern fittings, refreshing colors and brilliant hand-painted fabrics. Both loft and ground floor suites offer picturesque views.

Day 2 Franschhoek Le Quartier Francais Breakfast

Today you will enjoy a round of golf at South Africa’s No. 5 ranked course— Pearl Valley Golf Estate http://www.pearlvalley.co.za/play/the-golf-experience/the-golf-course.html

The Pearl Valley Golf Estate is surrounded by the Simonsberg and Drakenstein Mountains and bordered by vineyards with The Berg River water hazard running through it. Nicklaus has stayed true to his design principles by working closely with nature and has provided a golf course that fits in with the environment. This fairly flat and largely uninterrupted terrain enabled Nicklaus the freedom to develop hole strategies making this a golf course the golfer has to think his/her way around. In its engineering and planning detail, the course is very rare. It is crossed by roads in only three places, and the drainage system allows play to continue just minutes after a severe cloudburst. Pearl Valley is an SA Open Championship course.

Day 3 Franschhoek Le Quartier Francais Breakfast and Lunch

Today you will enjoy a Full Day Private Tour of Cape Town including entrances to Table Mountain Cable Way http://www.tablemountain.net/ Castle of Good Hope and South African Museum.

Travel along the Coast Road via Sea Point, Clifton, and Camps Bay, stopping at the granite boulders where we have magnificent views of the Twelve Apostles, Table Mountain and the beach of Camps Bay. Continue along Victoria Drive past Bakoven and Llandudno to Hout Bay, a charming village, and fishing harbor.

After the beach, travel upward to Chapman’s Peak 1,970 feet above the ocean, to Cape Point and the Good Hope Nature Reserve. Don’t forget a camera or binoculars—during migration season between June and November, there is a good chance to see Southern Right Whales along the coastline. The whales come here to mate and give birth, and breaching whales are not uncommon in the surf and just beyond. Penguins, dolphins, and seals call the bay home year-round. Enter the reserve and enjoy the flora and fauna of the region as well as the rocky coastline of Cape Point http://capepoint.co.za/ Stop at the tip of the Cape Peninsula and visit the lighthouse overlooking False Bay, so named by the early navigators who thought they had arrived at Table Bay.

Leave the reserve and drive along the False Bay coastline through historic Simonstown to Fish Hoek. Head back towards the city over Boyes Drive with views of the fishing village of Kalk Bay and seaside towns St. James and Muizenberg.

Stop for lunch at a lovely Cape Coast spot, and afterward you will proceed to Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens http://www.sanbi.org/gardens/kirstenbosch situated on the slopes of Table Mountain. Cecil John Rhodes bought Kirstenbosch in 1895 and when he died seven years later, he left it to the people of South Africa. It contains a unique collection of southern African plants and the garden is one of the few in the world devoted to indigenous plants. Time is spent in this magnificent garden before returning to your hotel near sunset.

Day 4 George Fancourt Hotel Country Club & Golf Estate Breakfast

After breakfast and check out procedures, you will be transferred back to Cape Town Airport for your flight to George. On arrival, you will be transferred to Fancourt Hotel Country Club & Golf Estate http://www.fancourt.co.za/ Fancourt, South Africa’s premier leisure and business resort is situated in the heart of the Garden Route. Ideally located, the resort is superbly landscaped on 1,500 acres of lush countryside with the majestic Outeniqua Mountains as the perfect backdrop. Rooms and suites are modern and spacious, overlooking the Outeniqua Mountains, Fancourt gardens, and golf course.

The fully equipped and professionally staffed Fancourt Spa http://www.fancourt.com/spa/treatments/ incorporates a sauna, steam room, tepidarium and gymnasium with a personal trainer, includes a heated indoor roman bath and Jacuzzi.

Day 5 George Fancourt Breakfast

Today you will enjoy a round of golf at South Africa’s No. 7 course – Fancourt Montagu. Fancourt is South Africa’s premier golf resort, featuring three highly rated Championship golf courses, where the play is restricted to Members, their guests, and hotel guests.

Since opening in the early 90’s with just 27 Gary Player-designed holes, Fancourt’s Outeniqua and Montague golf courses http://www.fancourt.com/golf/ have matured and developed into two of the finest 18-hole parkland layouts in the country. A round on either is a special experience, sculpted and finished as they are, with the rare attention to detail and designed with the coastal George winds in mind.

The Links at Fancourt was added in 2000, an awe-inspiring example of magnificent design and golf-course construction, about which designer Gary Player says: “Links golf is how the game originated and at The Links we take golfers back to the roots of golf – and they can play a ‘British Open’ all of their own!”

In addition to three golf courses suited to every type of golfer, Fancourt has an exceptional golf academy that houses a Taylor Made Performance Lab and state-of-the-art practice and teaching facilities, backed up by the expertise of PGA professionals.

Day 6 George Fancourt Breakfast

Today you will enjoy a round of golf at South Africa’s No. 2 ranked golf course – The Links.

The Links at Fancourt was added in 2000, an awe-inspiring example of magnificent design and golf-course construction, about which designer Gary Player says: “I feel a genuine affinity for Fancourt having been involved from day one as a designer of the original golf courses, I experienced one of the greatest thrills of my golf career here when captaining the International Presidents Cup team against Jack Nicklaus’ American team, and it is the home of perhaps my greatest achievement as a golf course designer.”

The Links at Fancourt is without a doubt the most impressive piece of golf design and construction ever in South Africa. Fancourt owner Dr. Hasso Plattner, who took a very hands-on approach in the creation of the course, commissioned a golf course which would not only be a thorough test for every golfer but would also rank among the top courses in the world.

Day 7 Kruger National Park http://www.krugerpark.co.za/ Lukimbi Safari Lodge Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

After breakfast and check out procedures, you will be transferred back to George Airport for your flight to Mpumulanga Airport. On arrival you will be transferred to Kruger National Park for check-in at Lukimbi Safari Lodge http://www.lukimbi.com/ Lukimbi Safari Lodge is a stunning luxury safari lodge situated in the easily accessible southern portion of the Kruger National Park. Spacious suites combine luxury and modern African decor with private decks and river views. Kruger is home to the Big Five and a wide variety of other animals and birds which roam freely in their natural habitat. This is an area of the great diversity of both fauna and flora and affords you unique activities based around the river system and surrounding area. Characteristic species of wildlife on Lukimbi include lion, elephant, white rhino, leopard, cheetah, buffalo, giraffe, zebra, hyena, waterbuck, hippopotamus, crocodile, wildebeest, kudu and many other mammal & bird species.

Day 8 Kruger National Park Lukimbi Safari Lodge Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Today you will enjoy a round of golf at Leopard Creek Golf Course and Country Club http://www.leopardcreek.co.za/ South Africa’s Number One course Leopard Creek Golf Course and Country Club is situated on the Crocodile River, just across from Lukimbi, and is accessible by private road. Typical bushveld koppies overlook the course from the east, providing an ideal backdrop for a magnificent course.

Johann Rupert created Leopard Creek, and with Gary Player, designed a championship 18-hole golf course as its centerpiece. Small streams and lakes are found throughout the development, creating a challenging play to the golfer. Golfing hazards take on a new dimension at Leopard Creek for much of the water are home to hippos and the creature for which the adjacent river is named – the crocodile.

The tee shot on the 18th-hole, a par-four, is downhill and inviting with water surrounding the green, a challenge to most golfers. The 9th hole is a par-five, presenting an opportunity for long hitters to go for the green in two.

Day 9 Kruger National Park Lukimbi Safari Lodge Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

The lodge at Lukimbi features carved plaster panels showing intricate mystical creatures and African patterns in a subtle yet extremely decorative way. The main buildings are linked together with open wooden decks, making the most of the view as the lodge meanders along the banks of the river Lwakahle.

Lukimbi is a photographers’ delight, both inside the surrounds of the lodge and out in the beckoning bush. The height of the lodge above the river provides viewing points with a feeling of safety. The raised walkways provide guests with clear and easy access to your suite.

Game drives http://www.lukimbi.com/static/activities go out in the early morning and late afternoons in open Land Rovers. Guides love to share their extensive knowledge and work closely with the Shangaan trackers to get the best sightings. There is great communication between the two and the trackers are encouraged to share their knowledge of local uses of herbs and trees, animals and birds.

The drives can follow the Big 5 http://goafrica.about.com/od/africanwildlife/ss/The-Big-5-Images-Facts-And-Information-About-Africas-Big-Five.htm off road in careful, controlled circumstances, an experience few guests care to miss. Guests are able to get really close to the animals and experience truly fantastic photographic opportunities. Early mornings start off a little cold, but a stop is made later for warming drinks or cold ones if preferred. A highlight of late afternoon drives is the time spent at sundowner. This is the moment to appreciate the magnificence of an African sunset while sipping sundowner drinks.
